How WhatsApp Works on FastHire

There's no WhatsApp account to connect in FastHire. Every organization shares a single, FastHire-managed WhatsApp Business number — there's nothing to set up in Settings → Connections, because there's no per-user or per-org WhatsApp connection at all.
Where WhatsApp actually sends real messages
Interview confirmations and reminders are the one place WhatsApp genuinely sends. Turn on "Send WhatsApp interview reminders" in Settings → Interview reminders and FastHire sends a real WhatsApp message — at scheduling time, and again 1 hour before the interview — from its shared number.
Where WhatsApp doesn't really send anything
WhatsApp follow-up steps in outreach sequences never send a real message, regardless of setup. WhatsApp's Business API only allows pre-approved message templates for outreach a business initiates — it can't send the freely AI-written or hand-typed text a sequence step would need. FastHire logs these steps as sent so sequence progression still works, but nothing actually reaches the candidate over WhatsApp.
Why the difference
Interview reminders work around this by using one fixed, pre-approved template with a few filled-in details (candidate name, time, meeting link) — exactly the kind of message WhatsApp allows. A sequence step's message is different every time and can't be pre-approved that way, so it stays simulated until FastHire adds real template-based support for that use case.
Frequently asked questions
Can I connect my own WhatsApp Business account instead of using FastHire's shared number?
No — there's no option to bring your own WhatsApp Business account today.
Is there anything I need to set up for WhatsApp to work?
Only the interview reminders toggle in Settings → Interview reminders — there's no connection step, since it isn't a per-user or per-org account.
Will WhatsApp sequence steps eventually send real messages?
That would require FastHire adding pre-approved WhatsApp templates for outreach messaging — not something available today. Check with FastHire support for the current state if this matters for your workflow.
