How to Connect Google Calendar and Gmail

Google Calendar and Gmail are two completely separate connections in FastHire, even though both use your Google account — connecting one doesn't connect the other. Calendar powers meeting links for interviews; Gmail powers real email sends in sequences, replies, and reminders.
Connecting Google Calendar
Go to Settings → Connections → Calendar and select Connect Google Calendar. This creates real Google Meet links and calendar events when you schedule interviews. See "Connecting Google Calendar for Interview Scheduling" for the full walkthrough.

Connecting Gmail
Go to Settings → Connections → Email accounts and select Connect Google. You'll be redirected to a secure hosted login page (via Unipile, FastHire's connection provider) to sign in with your Gmail credentials — the same pattern used for connecting LinkedIn. FastHire doesn't see or store your password.

As with LinkedIn, there can be a short delay after logging in before the Connections page shows Connected — it's confirmed by a background notification, not instantly on redirect.
Why you'd need both
Google Calendar — creates a real Google Meet link and calendar event when you schedule an interview.
Gmail — sends actual emails for "Email message"/"Email follow-up" sequence steps, email interview confirmations and reminders, and email replies from Inbox. Without it connected, those email steps still show as sent in FastHire, but nothing real goes out.
You can connect either one independently — there's no requirement to set up both, but real email sending specifically needs Gmail connected, not just Calendar.
Frequently asked questions
If I connect Google Calendar, does that also connect Gmail for sending emails?
No — they're entirely separate connections. Connecting Calendar has no effect on whether email sequence steps actually send.
Can I use a different Google account for Calendar than for Gmail?
Yes — since they're independent connections, you can connect a different Google account to each if you want to.
Do I need both connected to use FastHire at all?
No — both are optional. Without Calendar, you paste in meeting links manually; without Gmail, email steps stay simulated instead of really sending.
Which one do I need if I only care about scheduling interviews with a Meet link?
Just Google Calendar — Gmail isn't required for interview meeting links.
