Connecting Microsoft Teams Calendar for Interview Scheduling
Rakesh · September 17, 2026 · 3 min read
Connecting Microsoft Teams lets FastHire auto-generate a real Teams meeting and calendar event whenever you schedule an interview, instead of you pasting in a link manually — the same thing Google Calendar does, for teams on Microsoft 365 instead.
Only one calendar connection at a time
FastHire allows exactly one calendar connection per person — Google Calendar, Microsoft Teams, or Calendly. If you already have one connected, you'll need to disconnect it before you can connect Microsoft Teams; the Connect button for Teams is disabled with a note telling you which one to disconnect first.
Step 1: Start the connection
Go to Settings → Connections and find the Calendar section. Select Connect Microsoft Teams.
Step 2: Grant access on Microsoft's consent screen
You'll be redirected to Microsoft to sign in and approve calendar access, then brought back to FastHire. The Calendar section updates to show Connected shortly after.
What this enables
When scheduling an interview, choosing "Auto-generate a meeting link" now creates a real calendar event with a Microsoft Teams meeting link — added as an attendee if the candidate's email is known — instead of requiring you to paste one in manually or falling back to Calendly. Canceling an interview later also cancels this calendar event. If someone cancels the meeting directly in Outlook or Teams instead of in FastHire, FastHire detects that automatically and marks the interview cancelled here too, usually within a few minutes.
The Interviews page's List / Calendar view toggle also overlays your Teams calendar events alongside your FastHire-scheduled interviews, so you can see both without leaving FastHire.
This is not the same as Microsoft email or Microsoft sign-in
FastHire has three separate things involving Microsoft, and connecting one doesn't affect the others:
- Microsoft Teams calendar (this article) — generates meeting links and calendar events for interviews.
- Microsoft email (Settings → Connections → Email accounts) — sends and receives actual email through your Microsoft 365 mailbox. See "Connecting Microsoft Email or IMAP to FastHire."
- Signing in to FastHire with Microsoft — lets you log in to your FastHire account itself using your Microsoft/Entra ID credentials, unrelated to calendars or email.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Microsoft Teams and Google Calendar at the same time?
No — only one calendar connection is active at a time. Disconnect one to connect the other.
Do I need a specific Microsoft 365 plan for this?
You need a Microsoft 365 account with calendar access through your organization's Microsoft/Entra ID tenant. If your admin restricts third-party app access to Microsoft 365, they may need to approve FastHire's connection request first.
Does this affect anything besides interview scheduling?
No — this connection is used specifically for generating meeting links and calendar events when you schedule interviews, and for the Interviews page's Calendar view.
Do I need to reconnect if my access expires?
Yes — select Reconnect in the same Calendar section if your connection ever needs refreshing.
What happens if I disconnect Microsoft Teams later?
Future interviews fall back to requiring a manually entered meeting link (or a connected Calendly link, if you connect that instead). Meetings already created stay valid; FastHire just won't be able to auto-cancel or sync status for interviews it can no longer reach.
