How to Create a Job Posting from a Search?

Rakesh · September 17, 2026 · 4 min read

Every FastHire search can have its own public job page — an AI-drafted description with a shareable link — so you can post the role somewhere people outside FastHire can see it, without leaving the search you already built. It's separate from sourcing: candidates who apply through this page never cost you a sourcing or contact credit.

What a job posting is

A job posting is a public, unauthenticated page at thefasthire.com/careers/<slug>, tied one-to-one to a Search. It shows your organization's name, a title and description you control, and a short application form. Anyone with the link can view it and apply — no FastHire account needed.

Step 1: Create a job posting from a search

  1. Open any search's results page.

  2. Select Post job near the top of the page.

  3. Optionally describe what you want the posting to say (tone, remote policy, funding stage, anything worth mentioning) and select Draft with AI — FastHire writes a title and description grounded in the search's own job description or name.

  4. Edit the Title and Description fields directly — the AI draft is a starting point, not a final answer.

  5. Switch Enabled on to publish it live and start accepting applications, or leave it off to save your draft without making it public yet.

A posting's link is generated once, the first time you save it, and never changes afterward — it's safe to share immediately, even before you've finished refining the wording, as long as Enabled is off until you're ready.

What candidates see

The public page shows your organization's name, the posting's title, and its description, followed by an application form: full name, either an email or phone number (one of the two is required), and an optional resume upload (PDF, .doc, or .docx, up to 4MB). The form also asks for LinkedIn URL, current role, company, location, education, and skills — all optional, but the more an applicant fills in, the better FastHire can evaluate them (see "Applications get scored too," below). There's no account creation or login for the applicant — they submit and see a confirmation message.

Sharing the link

Once a posting is enabled, its link appears in the Post job dialog along with a running count of applications received. Copy it and share it anywhere — with recruiters for outreach, on a job board, or with your own employees for referrals. Append ?ref=yourname to the link to tag who's sharing it; that value is stored on each application submitted through that specific link, so you can tell which channel or which employee a candidate came through.

Applications don't cost credits

Submissions through a job posting's public page never spend sourcing or contact credits — the same "free" treatment as importing a candidate list from a CSV. This is deliberate: it's meant to be a zero-cost way to accept inbound interest and referrals alongside your credit-metered outbound sourcing.

Where applications show up

Each submission creates a candidate record in your organization (matched by email if one was provided) and automatically adds them to a dedicated list for that posting — created the moment its first application comes in, named after the posting. From there they're browsable, exportable, and reachable through outreach sequences just like any other candidate on a list.

Two places bring every application together across all your postings:

  • Go to Lists → Job applications for a single org-wide table of every application — contact info, which posting they applied to, the referral tag from the link they used (if any), and a resume download where one was provided.

  • On any list's detail page, a candidate who came in this way carries a Job post badge, so you can tell them apart from candidates your AI Agent sourced or you imported by CSV.

Applications get scored too

If the posting's search has already been calibrated (you've run an AI Agent on it), every new applicant is automatically run through the same AI scoring FastHire uses for agent-sourced candidates — using whatever profile details they filled in on the application form. Their Relevance score and "Why this candidate" reasoning then show up alongside agent-sourced candidates anywhere that search's results are shown, including in Lists. Scoring happens shortly after they apply, not instantly, so don't expect it in the same second as the confirmation screen.

If the search hasn't been calibrated, applicants still come in and get added to their list — they just won't have a relevance score.

Using your job posting link in outreach

If you're setting a sequence's candidate action to "Apply via link" in Message settings, you don't need to copy the link over manually — select Use job posting link next to the field to fill it in from one of your live postings (a dropdown if your org has more than one). It stays a normal editable field afterward, so you can still swap in a different link if you need to.

Frequently asked questions

Can I turn a job posting off without deleting it?

Yes — switch Enabled off. The page stops accepting new applications and shows a "no longer accepting applications" message, but the posting, its link, and its application count are kept and can be re-enabled anytime.

Does every search get a job posting automatically?

No — a job posting only exists once you select Post job on that search's results page and save it. Searches without one simply have no Post job link to share.

Can I reuse the same link after editing the title or description?

Yes — the link's slug is generated once and doesn't change even if you edit the title or description afterward, so a link you've already shared keeps working.

Do I need to be an Org Admin to create a job posting?

No — creating and managing a job posting follows the same access as the search itself; anyone who can open the search's results page can select Post job.

Will applicants know I sourced them through FastHire?

No — the public page only shows your organization's name, the role title, and your description. There's no FastHire branding on the applicant-facing page itself.

Do applicants get a relevance score like sourced candidates?

Only if you've calibrated an AI Agent on that posting's search — in that case, they're scored automatically using the details they gave on the application form. If the search hasn't been calibrated, applicants still show up in Lists, just without a score.

Can I export the list of applicants?

Yes — both a posting's dedicated list and the org-wide Lists → Job applications view can be exported to Excel like any other list.
