Recording and Viewing Interview Feedback

Rakesh · September 17, 2026 · 3 min read

After an interview happens, anyone in your org can leave a recommendation and notes on it directly in FastHire — visible to the whole team, not just the interviewer, so a hiring manager can see the full picture before deciding whether to move a candidate forward.

Who can leave feedback

Any member of your organization with access to Interviews can leave feedback on any interview shown there — it isn't restricted to the recruiter who scheduled it or the specific person who conducted it. Everyone submits their own feedback independently; submitting again edits your own prior feedback rather than creating a duplicate.

Where to find it

Go to Interviews. Next to each interview in the list, select Feedback. This opens a dialog showing the candidate's name and any feedback already left by others, with a form below it for your own.

What you can record

  • Recommendation (optional) — one of Selected, Shortlisted, Can be considered, Schedule further Interview, Can be considered later, or Rejected. These are pipeline decisions, not a sentiment scale — pick whichever reflects what should happen to the candidate next.
  • Notes (required) — free text on how the interview went. You can't save feedback with an empty notes field, but the recommendation itself is optional.

Who can see it

Feedback is visible to your entire organization, not private to the author or the interview's recruiter. Every piece of feedback left on an interview is shown together in the same dialog, each labeled with its author's name and when it was last updated, so a hiring manager reviewing a candidate can see every interviewer's take in one place.

Editing your feedback

Open the Feedback dialog again at any time and change your recommendation or notes, then save — this updates your existing feedback rather than adding a second entry. There's no way to delete feedback once submitted, and you can't edit or remove someone else's feedback, only your own.

Feedback also appears in list exports

When you export a list to Excel (see "Exporting Candidate Lists to Excel or CSV"), two extra columns are included for any candidate who's had an interview: Interview recommendation (the most recent recommendation left, across every interviewer) and Interview feedback (every interviewer's notes, one per line, each attributed to who wrote it and when). This isn't in the Inbox yet — feedback only shows up in the Feedback dialog on Interviews and in list exports for now.

Frequently asked questions

Can I leave feedback before the interview is marked completed?

Yes — the Feedback option is available on any interview in the list regardless of its status, though it's intended for after the interview actually happens.

Is a recommendation required to save feedback?

No — notes are required, but the recommendation dropdown can be left blank.

Can I see feedback other interviewers left before I submit mine?

Yes — opening the Feedback dialog shows everyone's existing feedback on that interview before you add your own.

Does leaving feedback notify anyone?

No — feedback is available whenever someone opens the dialog for that interview; it doesn't trigger an email or in-app notification to the rest of the team.

Can a candidate see their own interview feedback?

No — feedback is internal to your organization only.
