Understanding Credits and How to Buy More

Rakesh · September 17, 2026 · 5 min read

Quick answer: FastHire uses one credit pool for both sourcing and outreach. Sourcing a candidate costs 1 credit; your first message to them (any channel) costs 2 — follow-ups, replies, and CSV/Excel imports are free. Running out never blocks you: you can keep sourcing and messaging, you just won't be charged in credits again until you either wait for your next monthly refresh or buy a one-time top-up.

How credits work

  • Sourcing a candidate via AI/LinkedIn search costs 1 credit, charged once per candidate the first time your org sources them — re-sourcing the same person in a later search doesn't charge again.
  • Contacting a candidate costs 2 credits, charged once on their first real outbound message, regardless of channel or how many sequences they end up in. Follow-ups and replies in the same conversation are free.
  • Importing candidates from a CSV or Excel file is free — credits are only spent when FastHire's AI sources or contacts someone for you.
  • Deleting or archiving a candidate never refunds a spent credit — every credit event is recorded permanently in your usage history.

Your monthly allowance

Each paid plan includes a set number of credits that refresh every 30 days from your signup date:

  • Starter — 400 credits/month
  • Growth — 2,000 credits/month
  • Enterprise — custom, set by your agreement

On the free trial, you get a one-time allowance of 40 credits for the life of the trial — unlike a paid plan, this doesn't refresh every 30 days.

Rollover

While your subscription is active, any credits you don't use this period roll into the next one and don't expire. If your subscription lapses (a failed payment or a cancellation), rollover stops accruing until you're active again — usage from a past-due or cancelled period isn't credited back.

Buying extra credits

If you're out of credits before your next refresh, an Org Admin can buy a one-time top-up from Settings → Billing → Add credits. Enter how many credits you want (10 to 100,000), confirm the total, and you'll be taken to PayGlocal's secure page to pay.

  • Top-ups are billed at a flat per-credit price for your plan and currency — for example, $1.00 per credit on Starter, $0.80 on Growth. Enterprise top-up pricing is set by your agreement — contact your account team.
  • Purchased credits are drawn down only after your monthly allowance (including anything rolled over) is used up.
  • Purchased credits carry over between periods and never expire, even if your subscription later lapses.
  • Top-ups aren't available on the free trial — subscribe to a paid plan first.

Seeing exactly where your credits went

Select View usage detail next to the Credits section on the Billing page to open a full ledger: every sourcing and outreach credit event, one row per candidate, with the date, time, and a link to their LinkedIn profile. Filter by date range and export the whole thing to Excel.

Frequently asked questions

Do sourcing and contacting a candidate draw from separate credit pools?

No — it's one pool. Sourcing costs 1 credit and contacting costs 2, both drawn from the same balance.

What happens when I run out of credits?

Nothing is blocked. You'll see a banner letting you know you're out for the period, but every part of FastHire keeps working. To source or contact new candidates again before your next monthly refresh, buy a top-up or wait for the period to roll over.

Do unused credits expire?

Not while your subscription is active — they roll into the next period indefinitely. Purchased top-up credits never expire, even across a lapsed subscription.

Can I buy extra credits on the free trial?

No — top-ups are only available once you're on a paid plan.

Do referral bonus credits work the same way?

Yes — bonus credits earned through the referral program (see "Understanding FastHire's Pricing Plans") are added to the same monthly allowance and spent the same way.
